Planning Your RV Power Upgrade: Where to Start
Echo One AdventuresYou don’t need to arrive with a parts list. Start with what you want your RV to do and what isn’t working for you now.
Describe how you travel
A weekend without hookups and several weeks off grid call for different conversations. Tell us how long you usually stay in one place, how often you move and whether you normally have shore power or use a generator.
Think about your next few years of travel, too. You may want a modest upgrade now with room to expand later.
List the comforts that matter
Make a short list of the things you want to use away from hookups. For example:
- A refrigerator, lights and fans throughout the day.
- A coffee maker or microwave for short periods.
- Computers and internet equipment for work.
- An air conditioner for part of the afternoon or overnight.
Include roughly how long you use each item and which ones you expect to run together. That tells us more than a battery size or a solar wattage on its own.
Take stock of your existing equipment
Photos of the battery compartment, inverter, converter or charger, solar controller and equipment labels give us a useful starting point. Include your RV’s year, make and model if the project is for a vehicle. You don’t need to remove covers or disturb wiring to gather this information.
We look at the existing system before recommending what to keep, what to upgrade and how the equipment will work together.
Plan how you’ll recharge
Tell us what charging options you have and how you expect to use them. Solar, shore power and a generator can each have a role. We’ll discuss the balance between storage, everyday use and recharging, along with the space and budget available.
Bring your priorities, not all the answers
A useful first inquiry includes your location, travel style, equipment photos, the things you want to power and your preferred timing. If you have a budget range, include that as well.
Explore our RV power services or tell us about your project. If you’re handling an installation yourself, we also offer remote system design and technical support.
